MEADVILLE — The Department of Environmental Protection is encouraging water suppliers and local officials to attend a free workshop to learn how to collaborate and better protect drinking water sources.
The workshop will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, at the Millcreek Township Municipal Building, 3608 W. 26th St., Erie.Â
The workshop will explain how communities can assess and protect areas surrounding water sources, facilitate better local decision-making on land use and open space preservation, and involve the public in efforts to avoid contamination.
The workshop, sponsored by DEP and the Pennsylvania League of Women Voters Water Resources Education Network (WREN), will also present information about DEP’s source water protection technical assistance program.
Pre-registration is required. Register online or contact WREN Program Manager Julie Kollar at juliekwren@verizon.net or 267-468-0555.
Pennsylvania Rural Water Association will provide 3.5 contact hours for certified operators.
