A one-vehicle accident was reported by police that occurred on state Route 53 involving a 1980 Harley-Davidson driven by Hastings man. He was traveling south on state Route 53 in Decatur Township when he lost control of the motorcycle. He traveled onto the west berm and impacted a portion of guiderails with the right front end. After impact he traveled approximately 117 feet until he was ejected from the motorcycle. He then traveled over a dirt embankment before coming to a rest on his back facing east. The Harley-Davidson continued another 150 feel before coming to a rest on the guiderails facing south. Assisting police at the scene were the Sandy Ridge Ambulance, Houtzdale Volunteer Fire Company, Columbia Volunteer Fire Company, and Keith’s Towing. He was transported to the Altoona Hospital for injuries sustained as a result of the accident. He was cited through District Court 46-3-03 in Kylertown.
Police are investigating an accident that occurred on Thompsontown Road in Ferguson Township. The driver of a 2003 Dodge Ram was traveling west at a speed too fast for a left curve in the road. The truck traveled onto the northern berm and the driver tried to steer it back onto the road. The truck then went across the road onto the southern berm, still traveling west, and hit several trees with the right front side. The truck rotated 45 degrees clockwise before the back end hit a tree. The truck came to a stop off the roadway facing a northern direction. The driver, a 40-year old man from Fort McCoy, FL, and passenger, a 41-year old man from Mahaffey were transported to the Punxsutawney Hospital by EMS for treatment. Upon speaking with the driver it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and a blood sample was drawn to determine blood alcohol content.
Police are investigating an incident of simple assault that occurred at 158 Bell Lane in Bradford Heights, Bradford Township. A Woodland man left his home after hearing a disturbance outside. As he approached a person near the back door he was hit in the back of the head with an unknown blunt object. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 857-3800.
