PHILIPSBURG – A 27-year-old Philipsburg man will face charges for assaulting a state trooper who was handling a reported domestic dispute at a North Second Street address on Saturday morning in Philipsburg Borough, the Philipsburg-based State Police reported.
Jerome M. Phillips, 27 of Philipsburg, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest or other law enforcement, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned and lodged at the Centre County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.
According to the police report, troopers responded to the area of North Second Street for a reported domestic dispute. At arrival, troopers came in contact with Phillips in the back alley of the previously mentioned address.
Phillips allegedly assaulted one of the troopers, while he was being patted down for safety precautions. Troopers then attempted to place Phillips under arrest during which he resisted the same, the report said.
Troopers said Phillips was taken into custody. They indicated it was later determined he was linked to the domestic dispute at the North Second Street address.
