William G. “Computer Man” Baker, 68, of Clearfield died on April 28, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1941 in Altoona, a son of the late Fred Baker and Bernice (Bogle) Baker Wertz.
Mr. Baker retired from the Clearfield Hospital as the safety and risk manager after 30 years of employment. Prior to that, he was employed at M.W. Woods Co. in Pittsburgh. Following retirement, Mr. Baker operated both a computer repair business, a trade which was self taught, and an office cleaning business.
He was a member and past president of the Clearfield Jaycees, winning the Pennsylvania state ‘Speak Up’ award during his term as president. He was a former member of the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club and the Grandview Golf Course.Â
Mr. Baker graduated from Altoona High School in 1959. He received certification in Executive Housekeeping from Parkersburg Community College, Parkersburg, West Virginia. He also completed several courses from the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Grimes) Baker, whom he wed June 1, 1963 at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Coalport,

and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jack Baker.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. with Dale Baker, William’s brother, officiating.Â
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-5 p.m.
