Shaw Libray Going Green for Earth Day 2010

CLEARFIELD – The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library is going green for Earth Day 2010.  On April 22nd from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m., Shaw Public Library is hosting an Earth Day Celebration for children ages 6 months to 5 years old.  Interested children will learn about the benefits of caring for the earth while participating in activities related to the event.

In honor of Earth Day, participating children will be a part of planting a tree on the library grounds.  The tree is a donation from Spenergy Well Services, and a company representative will help plant the tree during the event.  “Planting a tree is such a great way for the children to contribute to Earth Day,” said Paula Marshall, library director.  “The children will have the opportunity to watch the tree grow as they visit the library year after year.”

In addition to planting a tree, the Earth Day Celebration will include various stories, games, and crafts to educate and entertain participants about caring for the earth.  Children will learn ways they can help make the earth a better place to live.

The Shaw Public Library is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.  To register for the Earth Day Celebration, please visit the library or call (814) 765-3271 during regular business hours.  Additional information can also be found on Shaw Public Library’s Web site at www.clearfield.org/shaw.
