Irene E. (Bunyak) Zendek, 87 of Madera, died Tuesday at Leesburg Cornwall Medical Center, Leesburg, VA.
Born on Oct. 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Duke) Bunyak.
She was a 1939 graduate of the former Madera High School and was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
She was a homemaker and worked 22 years as a seamstress. She retired in 1985 from the former Viceroy Factory, Osceola Mills.
She married Joseph Zendek, who preceded her in death, on March 26, 1987.
Mrs. Zendek is survived by a son, Lawrence J. Zendek, Sr. and his wife, Juliana, of Leesburg, VA.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Lawrence Zendek, Jr. and his wife, Sandra; Laura Rogers and her husband, Donald; David Zendek and his wife, Wendy; and Karen Ranger and her husband, Keith. Â
Nine great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Zendek is survived by the following siblings: Regina Klusak, of Rising Sun, MD; Annie Joyce, of Cleveland, OH; Theresa Bilinsky, of Cleveland, OH; Betty Ponist, of Madera, Madeline Taddeo and her husband, Carl, of Nova, OH; Leonard Bunyak and his wife Dorothy, of Medina, OH; Bernard Bunyak and his wife, Joanne, of Fairfield Glade,
TN; and Thomas Bunyak and his wife, Irene, of Olmstead, OH. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Petruna, Leona Shedlock and Kathryn Duke and three infant siblings.
Friends will be received from 6- 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 – 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Madera.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at Christ the King
Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Very Rev. Fr. Gregory A. Kirsch officiating.
