Boyd Wayne Barrett 84 of Curwensville, and formerly of Grampian, passed away on March 14 at Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born July 7, 1925 in Kerrmoor Greenwood Twp., he was the son of Perry and Sadie (Wiley) Barrett. He was retired as an auto body technician for Ross Buick for 41 years, was a US Army Veteran of WWII, and was a former member of the Curwensville Moose and Curwensville VFW.
He is survived by 4 children Kenneth Barrett and his wife Pat of New Millport, Judith Rosborough and her husband James of Luthersburg, JoAnne McCracken and her husband Richard of Lumber City, Randy Barrett and his wife Apryle of Bells Landing, and 2 step-daughters Janet Tapper and her husband Harold and June Pack, both of FL.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren, as well as 8 brothers and sisters. Elwood Barrett of NY, Ruth Witherite of Randolph, NY, Glenn Barrett and his wife Nancy, Calvin Barrett and his wife Virginia, and Carol Stiles all of Curwensville RD, Yvonne Edgars and her husband Gene of FL, Patricia Witherite of Kerrmoor, and Denny Barrett of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Beulah (Seger) Barrett, his second wife Cora (Davis) Fleming Barrett, his parents, and infant daughter, a sister Ethel Barrett, a brother Delaine Barrett, two step sons Tom “Snuffy” Fleming II and Jeff “Flint” Fleming, and a step daughter Gail Henderson.
Services for Mr. Barrett will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on March 18 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Richard Steurnagle officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends cemetery in Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. till the time of services at 11 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Grace Lutheran Church 406 Pine St Curwensville, PA 16833.
Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
