CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners and Planning Department are questioning the status of Growing Greener II Funds awarded to Sandy Township.
According to Planning Director Jodi Brennan, Sandy Township was among a number of townships awarded funds as part of the initiative through the state. Brennan said that Sandy Township received $150,000 for acid mine drainage remediation of Sandy Lick Creek.
Brennan said the township turned submitted the application but that the proper paperwork was not submitted. She added that the township then handed the project over to Trout Unlimited.
Brennan asked the commissioners to consider sending a letter to Sandy Township officials to inquire as the status of the project. She noted that it’s currently in limbo and that they need continued commitment from the township and a plan of action or the funds may need to relocated to another eligible project.
“We’d hate to lose that money,” said Brennan. “If the project fails, we’d like the ability to relocate it.”
