Michael Garrett ‘Mikey’ Rowles, 28 of Clearfield died on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on May 31, 1981 in Clearfield, a son of Dick and Shirley (Davis) Rowles of Clearfield.
He attended St. Francis School and served as an altar server at St. Francis Church, Clearfield. Mikey also attended Clearfield Area High School, class of 1999 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was the owner of Play At The Plate, a sports collectible store, in downtown Clearfield, which he opened in 2002.
He was an avid sports fan. He loved the Steelers, Penn State, Penguins and Pirates. He was on All Star Teams during his Little League, Teener League and YMCA basketball years. He had tremendous love for his nieces, Jamie and Isabella and his nephew, Matt. He was a wonderful son who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Richard Rowles, his wife Margarita and their three children all of Las Vegas, NV and his maternal grandmother, Isabella M. Davis of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Edgar E. Davis and his paternal grandparents Patricia Rowles and Emery Rowles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:45 PM.
Michael was a diabetic since age 8 and the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 717 Market Street, Suite 108, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
