Prepare for possible flooding! Considering the amount of snow on the ground, when we get a bit of a warm up, there will more than likely be some flooding. If you have items stored in your basement, mitigation could save your possessions. Appliances such as furnaces, water heaters, a deep freeze etc. should be placed on palates, bricks or boards to raise them off of the floor and prevent water damage.
Boxed items should be placed in plastic waterproof containers or on shelving or palates to avoid water.
Sand bags can be placed around the outside area of a garage or shed to prevent water from entering or blankets could be rolled up and placed in front of door entrances to soak up seepage. These small tips can help you to avoid the loss of useful items.

Red Cross is a United Way and United Fund Participating Agency and RSVP Station.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. Won’t you help meet those needs through your donation to your local American Red Cross? Checks may be sent to Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter, 1100 S. Second St. Suite 2, Clearfield, Pa 16830, or Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter, 18 Western Ave, Brookville, Pa 15825. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
