Margaret J. Holdren, 87 of Philipsburg passed away on Feb. 17 at The Fairways at Brookline in State College.
She was born on June 10, 1922 in Allport, the daughter of the late Arthur & Edna (Plowman) Johnson.
On August 13, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg she married John Warren Holdren, who died Jan. 31, 1995.
She is survived by children Jon E. Holdren and his wife Pamela of State College, Peggy Rossman of Bellefonte, Scott E. Holdren and his wife Helen of Black Moshannon, William “Vance” Holdren and his wife Joyce of Chincoteague, VA; granchildren Sommar Chilton, Brooke Holdren, Jason Holdren, Eliza Reed, Tyson Randall and John Rossman; nine great-granchildren; brother William “Bill” Johnson of St. Mary’s and sister Mona Shimel of Romeo, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Oscar Johnson, Arthur Johnson and Carl Johnson.
She was a graduate of Morris Township High School.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg.
She was a homemaker.
She was an avid bridge player in Philipsburg and Clearfield. She enjoyed gardening and her dogs.
A Memorial service will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, PA on Feb. 23, at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Feb. 23 from 6:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 7:00 p.m.
