CLEARFIELD – Mayor Jim Schell took the opportunity during Thursday night’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting to express his thanks to the public.
“I would like to thank the public for their cooperation during the recent storms and also the crew and the staff.” Schell said the borough office got quite busy with phones ringing that it was kind of like a “miniature command center”. He said they were able to get some cars off the street but “have room for improvement”.Â
Borough Manager Leslie Stott also stated that they had received more calls of appreciation this year than they ever have before.
Council President James Leitzinger congratulated the borough on the “fine job they have done in the past six weeks, some of it was under very adverse conditions.” In particular, Leitzinger wanted to thank Steve Biancuzzo, who was not at the meeting. Biancuzzo is the Street Department manager. “He did an excellent job of organizing everything and everybody. On behalf of the Borough Council, I would like to thank Steve for the excellent work he has done in supervising the men. He’s done a very good job for us”
Another concilmember, Jim Kling, commended the junior fire department for clearing the fire hydrants in the borough last Sunday. The junior fire deparment is made up of adolescents, 14-17 years of age.
