CLEARFIELD – In order to network with other participating vendors, board members of the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority will have a booth at the inaugural Central PA Outdoor and Sports Show this May.
“We need to have a presence,” Nancy Micks, chairwoman, said. Board member Greg Sheehan agreed, stating they could use this year to develop leads and networking opportunities. He said next year, they could “go bigger.”
Tracy Mahan, of WJAC-TV NBC 6, pitched the three-day outdoor and sports event to the board prior to their decision. She said it would be held May 7 – 9 at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
“It has been a big endeavor. We think it will be a great thing for Clearfield County,” she said, noting they, in conjunction with both GantDaily and First Media Radio, have been organizing the event over the past year.
Mahan said they realized a need for an outdoor and sports show in the area. She said it has been well-received so far, but they’re still working to acquire additional vendors.
Mahan said they would soon be pushing a lot of advertisements and promotions. She said they will be accepting show vendors through Friday, March 12.
She said interested vendors can find additional information and submit an inquiry online. She said the vendor listing is updated regularly on the Central PA Outdoor and Sports Show Web site.
She said they hoped to have approximately 50 vendors on hand. She said they usually have 55 vendors at the Pennsylvania Outdoor Times Sports & Outdoor Show at the Blair County Convention Center.
Mahan said they currently have about 30 vendors who have committed to their event. She said they will also hold seminars and interested individuals should contact them directly.
“It’s going to draw in a lot of people. There will be a lot going on that weekend,” Mahan said, adding they’d begin their own advertising on Monday on WJAC-TV NBC 6.
Mahan noted the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce’s “Wing Fling” and a Clearfield County Fair and Park Board concert were both on slate that weekend as well.
Mahan said their news crew would broadcast live from the event at 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday evenings. She said they’d focus much of their coverage on the show.
“We want to make a very good impression this year. We want to build and build each year and hope it lasts a long time,” she said.
