Lady Bisons Business Like In Win Over Brookville, 55-36
BROOKVILLE – The Clearfield girls basketball team won it’s tenth game of the season with a convincing 55-36 win over Brookville Friday night on the road. The Lady Bisons had beaten the Lady Raiders earlier this year 39-28.
Clearfield senior Elizabeth Peters had a career high 13 points to lead all scorers on both squads.
The Lady Bisons used good solid defense in the middle quarters, limiting the Lady Raiders to just ten total points. Six in the second and only four in the third that helped seal the victory.
Lady Bison head coach Joey Castagnolo liked what he saw in his squad, “I really liked how we played the entire game. We had a great team effort as we passed the ball very well and were unselfish on offense.”
About the defense, Castagnolo said, “Our defensive intensity was really special, especially in the second and third quarters when we really stepped it up a notch or two. It was just an all around nice team effort.”
Clearfield hit six three pointers on the evening, three by senior Jayme Ryan and fellow classmate Angela Moore with two. Ryan finished with nine while another senior, Amber Byerly, hit for double figures with ten.
The Lady Bisons did well at the free throw line, making 11 of 15.
Brookville had Ferraro scoring ten and being helped out by Hill with eight.
Brookville won the junior varsity battle over Clearfield, 32-20. The Clearfield JV’s are now 8-8 on the 2009-10 season.
Clearfield (10-6) is home on Monday as they welcome the Ramettes of Johnsonburg, a team the Lady Bisons handled at home on January 8th, 69-28. The junior varsity game starts at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
