CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County and the Clearfield County Commissioners may soon be facing legal action regarding real estate taxation.
On Tuesday Solicitor Kim Kesner asked the commissioners for permission to accept service for a legal complaint on behalf of the commissioners. Kesner explained this was typical between lawyers and avoided service on clients by the sheriff’s department.
Kesner went on to explain that on Jan. 15 he received a letter dated Jan. 14 from McQuaide Blasko Attorneys at Law on behalf of Clearfield County Citizens. According to Kesner the commissioners are to be expecting a complaint asking for declaratory judgment to force a county-wide reassessment of real estate.
“We need to actually see … if this suit is filed,” said Commissioner Mark McCracken. Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen said the commissioners will then address the situation.
