HARRISBURG – State Sen. John N. Wozniak today announced more than a half million dollars in Community Conservation grants for Clinton and Clearfield counties.
“These grants will help protect the environment and improve the local economy by improving the region’s recreation opportunities,” Wozniak said. “While the economy struggles, the grants should provide a great boost for these important local projects.”
The grants were awarded through Pennsylvania’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program and will be administered by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Receiving the grants are:
Decatur Township (Clearfield County) — $40,000 for the further development of Fairview Park, to include construction of a basketball court and parking area; installation of utilities, lighting and fencing; landscaping, project design and other improvements.
Sproul State Forest — $475,000 for further development of the Bloody Skillet ATV Area in Curtin Township, Clinton County. The grant will be used for numerous improvements, including design and construction of a bridge over Beech Creek to connect trails to public roads that are open to ATVs.
Wayne Township (Clinton County) — $63,000 for continued improvements to Zindel Park, including reconstruction of a parking area, construction of a pavilion and landscaping.
