MEN’S SWIMMING
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – John Lytle of Clearfield extended his undefeated streak in dual meets to 16 events over the weekend, but Notre Dame wound up losing to Michigan State and Louisville in the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
The Fighting Irish lost 179-121 to the Spartans Friday and 164-134 to the Cardinals in a Big East Conference meet Saturday.
Lytle was a doublewinner both days.
The senior freestyle sprinter won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.77 seconds and then made his season debut in the 200 individual medley a victorious one in 1:53.60 against Michigan State.
He followed up with a season-best 45.09 in the 100 free and a 1:40.01 in the 200 free against Louisville for two of Notre Dame’s three swimming wins against Louisville. He came from behind in the final 50 yards for those victories.
Lytle also aided a pair of seconds by Fighting Irish relay teams. He posted a 20.11 anchor leg for the 200 medley quartet, which was clocked in 1:31.95, and a 45.38 leadoff split for the 400 freestyle foursome, which registered a season-best 3:01.81.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman Mark Krchnak of Clearfield placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke against both Xavier and host Cleveland Sate as Duquesne split Saturday’s dual meets in Busbey Natatorium.
The Dukes, ranked No. 25 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, defeated Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Xavier 120-85 and lost to Cleveland State 135-88.
Krchnak touch the wall in 2:14.69 in the 200 breast.
He was sixth in the 200 individual medley with a 2:04.87 time and swam a 59.70 breaststroke leg for the ‘B’ 200 medley relay foursome that finished fourth in 3:36.22.

WOMEN’S DIVING
CHICAGO, Ill. – Sophomore diver Amber Centi of Clearfield accounted for 11 of Lincoln College’s 101 points at the University of Chicago Invitational in Myers-McLoraine Pool Friday and Saturday.
Centi finished 10th with 282.45 points off the one-meter board and 13th with 154.20 points in the three-meter event.

WRESTLING
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Clearfield Area High School graduate Kyle Keane of Bradford protected his perfect dual meet record with a decision as No. 5-ranked Pitt-Johnstown defeated Gannon 27-6 in the UPJ Sports Center Saturday night.
The redshirt senior, ranked No. 4 at 165 pounds in NCAA Division II, beat Bret Terry 11-5 for his seventh dual meet victory and a 15-4 record.
At 157, Mountain Cat Zach Lundgren (8-3, 5-0 in duals) of DuBois edged Ted Hoag 6-4.
UPJ is off to a 7-0 start.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Jeff Thomas of Curwensville earned his first dual meet win for Lycoming, but the hosts were beaten 23-14 by King’s in Lamade Gymnasium Saturday and finished eighth with a 2-2 record in the 2010 Budd Whitehill National Duals.
The Warrior freshman was bumped up to 165 pounds and responded with a 10-4 decision over Jerry Robbins.
He’s 2-3 with a 1-1 dual meet log.
Lycoming, ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division III, also topped State University of New York-Oswego 18-15 on the second day of the 20-team tournament.
On Friday, the Warriors (10-5) downed John Carroll 31-12 and lost to Wilkes 29-13.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Redshirt junior Derek Caldwell of Curwensville was major decisioned in Lock Haven’s 28-9 loss to Pitt Friday night in Fitzgerald Field House.
David Sullivan won the 174-pound bout 14-2 to help the Panthers improve to 10-1-1 in the Eastern Wrestling League opener for both squads.
Caldwell is 0-3 in dual meets and 4-11 overall for the Bald Eagles, who are 1-4.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sophomore Todd Hryn of Clearfield hit a three-pointer for Pitt-Greensburg’s final points in Saturday’s 83-62 loss to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference front-runner Medaille Saturday.
UPG (7-8) is tied for seventh place with a 5-5 AMCC log, while nationally-ranked Medaille (14-1) is 9-1.
In 11 games, including starts, Hryn has scored 51 points, a 4.6 average, and collected 48 rebounds. He also has two assists, five steals and two blocked shots.
