CLEARFIELD – Ed Yeager was back before the Clearfield Borough Council at Thursday evening’s meeting to see if any progress was made in regards to available funds for the little league concession stand roofing project.
Yeager came before the board in December to ask if the Borough had any money they could put towards the new roof on the concession stand at the little league field, which is in the borough. He was told in December that they would look into it.
The roofing project is to replace the old roof that is currently on the concession stand and in need of replacement.
According to Yeager the new roof will cost between $10,000-$12,000. He said the concession stand is one of their main sources of money and without a roof there might not be a concession stand.
Last year 381 children participated in Clearfield Little League. Yeager does not want to increase the registration fee, which would help with the roof costs, but hurt the families who have to pay, especially during such difficult economic times.
Leslie Stott, Clearfield Borough operations manager, told Yeager they would have to look into the legalities of giving money for the project because of field ownership. The field is owned by the Kurtz family, for the use of the Little League, so long as there is a league, whereas if the field was owned by the borough there wouldn’t be questions of legalities.
Yeager said the Women’s Auxillary is planning a dinner and dance to help raise money for the project.
