On this night, it was too much as the Lady Warriors dominated the Lady Tide in a 58-25 victory.
Coach Rusty McCracken saw some positive moments in the night, but his demeanor on the court showed disappointment.
“I was very pleased at how the girls kept at it late in the game. They got up there and caused problems shooting and we got some good rebounds,” McCracken said.
The biggest issue that the Lady Tide had all game long was getting the ball to make it through the net. According to McCracken, the shots were all good, but just did not fall in. Senior Tess Bloom led the Tide in scoring with 13 points, but had some good shots just bounce off the rim.
In the second quarter alone, Curwensville had 13 shots miss, with their only bucket coming with 30 seconds left before halftime.
For West Branch, it was Rebecca Kephart leading all scoring with 25 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Mariah McDowell added another 11 points and four boards.
Despite the loss, McCracken was proud of the effort from the team and said that it was just a night where their opponents had the advantage.
“We had a lot of different people contribute tonight, and that was important going forward,” McCracken said.
The Lady Tide also were defeated in the opening junior varsity game 50-17.
Curwensville (0-6) continues their road trip on Friday night as they face off against Dubois Central Catholic. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. for the jayvee game with the varsity to follow.
