CLEARFIELD – With budgets tightening from municipal governments to the federal government programs are seeing cuts.
On Tuesday Stacy Locastro of Central PA Community Action informed the Clearfield County Commissioners that their Human Services Development contract has recently had cuts. She said the program, and its sub-programs took a 13 percent cut. Last year the HSDF contract received roughly $206,000 in state funding; this year it will receive $181,633.
Locastro said the programs provided under HSDF help to keep residents in their homes and include food services and homemaker services. She stressed that the food service was not the same as Meals on Wheels.
Jodi Brennan, director of the county’s planning department, gave the commissioners an update on the required stormwater management plans mandated to counties by the state. As part of the mandate, the state guaranteed paying for 75 percent of the costs of the stormwater management plans.
Phase I of Clearfield County’s plan had been already been performed. Brennan said that one hang-up was that the state had not included the stormwater money in its newest budget.
Brennan recommended that the commissioners hold off on Phase II until the state was willing to put forth the 75 percent it had promised.
