HUSTON TOWNSHIP – A 45-year-old Julian man who aimed and attempted to fire a rifle at a woman will faces charges following an aggravated assault at 2 a.m. Saturday morning in Huston Township, the Philipsburg-based State Police reported.
Carl Warren Florey, 45 of Julian, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was arraigned and placed in the Centre County Jail with a bail order of $50,000.
According to the police report, Florey engaged in a verbal argument with a 37-year-old Julian woman. They reported that the dispute turned physical, when the defendant punched and choked the woman.
Police stated that the defendant then allegedly picked up a rifle and closed the bolt on the same. They stated he pointed the gun at the woman and pulled the trigger. They stated the gun did not fire, as it was not loaded with ammunition.
Police stated at that time a 19-year-old Julian man attempted to assist the victim. They stated he was struck in the face several times by Florey. They stated the defendant then fled the residence with the rifle.
Police stated Florey was located by police a short time later at a nearby residence. He was taken into custody at that time.
