I am writing in regards to the closing of Mariloyd personal care home.
My mother has been a resident there for five years and I do not have any complaints on her care. I attended the meeting for the family members of the residence and we wanted to know why and what the violations were.
As far as we knew, all the violations had been corrected. I mean, come on now, I have to move my mother to Reynoldsville because they found a dented can in the cupboard, a poster wasn’t put up properly, a few slices of lunch meat left in the refrigerator that had expired, but yet never had any resident got sick from eating there.
I did not hear of any neglect to the residents, any injuries due to the staff not caring for them, anything that would want me not to have my mother there. Twenty-eight elderly people leaving there home and family because of petty little problems. And to make matters worse they have to all find other homes by Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving.
This is a shame and a disgrace. My mother will be about 50 miles away now. I will not be able to visit her four or five times a week like I do now. This has been a burden on the family members who take care of them too.
I know there is nothing that can be done, their minds are made up, but I would like the ones responsible to know that they were wrong to do this. I hope when they go to bed at night and close their eyes, the faces of those that were the victims in this, the elderly, haunts their sleep.
