CLEARFIELD – Due to the continued presence of H1N1 illness in the region, Clearfield Hospital has placed restrictions on visitors to the hospital, effective immediately and continuing until further notice.
To reduce the transmission of the virus, hospital personnel have been advised to allow no more than two visitors per patient room, according to Infection Prevention Manager Sue Stiner, RN, BSN.
Visitors under the age of 18 will not be allowed in the hospital.
Anyone who is currently ill with symptoms of seasonal flu or H1N1 are asked not to visit patients at this time.
These restrictions are placed on visitors to the hospital, not people seeking medical treatment for symptoms.
Flu viruses are spread from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.
People can decrease their chances of contracting H1N1 through frequent hand washing; thorough cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces by using a bleach-based household cleaner; and washing clothing or linens that may be contaminated with the virus after an episode of illness.
Vaccinations of people most susceptible to H1N1, including children and pregnant women, are strongly recommended.
