The Curwensville JV Football team, coached by Brian Dimmick, JT Iriwn, Chris Folmar and Mickey Morgillo completed their season with a win over the Ridgway Elkers Monday evening October, 26th.
The first quarter was scoreless. The Tide were driving and fumbled on the three yard line. The Elkers took over but they then fumbled on the twelve yard line.
In the second quarter the Tide got the ball on their own 26 yard line. Hunter McCracken completed a 23 yard pass to Jesse Zorger for a first down. The Tide moved the ball well with Jeremy Bloom and Shelby McGarry running the ball. Shelby McGarry took it in for a short touchdown run. The two point conversion was unsuccessful, setting the score at 6-0.
Ridgway quarterback Mundeen was sacked by Jesse Zorger and Jake Pentz causing Ridgway to punt it back to the
Tide. Jeremy Bloom ran for a first down but the following series Garrett LaBorde had to punt back to Ridgway.
Mike Capiello returned for the Elkers and was tackled by Jake Zemba. Ridgway was able to pass and move the ball well but could not get into the endzone due to the defensive play by the Tide. Mundeen completed a pass to Jay Times but he was stopped by Lewis Rhine.
The score at the half remained 6-0 Tide.
Third quarter play resumed with both teams moving the ball but not scoring. Ridgway QB Mundeen was hurried on a pass play and made a backward pass which was recovered by Hunter McCracken on the Ridgway 43. The Tide couldn\’t capitalize.
On the Elkers last possession of the 3rd quarter Mike Capiello ran for a first down and was tackled by Kyle Scribe.
The next play Capiello was stopped for a loss by Jake Pentz. Still no scoring for Ridgway.
During the fourth quarter passes were intercepted by the Tide\’s Chad Desmett and Hunter McCracken.
The Elkers were pressing toward the goal and the Tide made an impressive defensive stand for six plays to keep Ridgway out of the endzone. The quarterback for Ridgway was tackled by Frankie Goodroe and McCracken for a loss.
With 41 seconds remaining Hunter McCracken intercepted Mundeen to secure a Tide victory.
Even though the Tide record is 3-2 for the season this team has shown a lot of maturity as a unit, assuring a bright future for Golden Tide Football.
