CLEARFIELD – Mike Errigo has announced his candidacy for a seat on Clearfield Borough Council for Second Ward.
I am an 11-year resident of Clearfield Borough. That means I do not qualify as a G.O.B.(Good Ol’ Boy), but my extensive background in corporate management and community service does qualify me as G.F.C(Good For Clearfield).
This is a critical time for Clearfield. During my three years on Clearfield Borough Council, where I was Vice President and Chairman of the Personnel Committee. I helped support the initiation of the sewerage update project, the consolidation of the fire department, and supported of one of the few realistic Ethanol plants in Pennsylvania. I supported the hiring of a developer for downtown. For two years, I lead the support for identifying and hiring of a borough operations manager. Currently, I am serving as Vice President of the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation. CRC has already raised almost $200,000 to use as matching funds for the Main Street program. At a time when Clearfield downtown is unable to support the Dollar General and Good Will Store, something aggressive needs to be done.
This is not a time to look back to the good ol’ days because they are gone. We need to look ahead and work to attract 21st Century businesses for our downtown. I support the regionalization of our police and street departments. I support the eventual consolidation of Clearfield and Lawrence Township if it can be done to the betterment of the vast majority.
I was criticized by my opponent for supporting the consolidation of the four Clearfield Fire Companies, but now our consolidated fire department is better trained and their response time has improved to the benefit of all Clearfield residents. The department is qualifying and receiving more grants than ever before. I am told that our insurance rating for property owners has also improved.
For over five years I have been president of the Lawrence Township VFD #1 and I am the treasurer of the Lawrence Township VFD Relief Board. I am a member of the Clearfield Jefferson Counties Mental Health Mental Retardation Advisory Board. I am an Information Technology Manager at Penn State University.
I ask the voters of second ward to look at my qualifications. I am a homeowner and taxpayer in second ward. I do not just dream of our young people staying in Clearfield, I am working to make that dream a reality. Please vote to return me to Clearfield Borough Council.
