The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association in Cooperation with the United States Congressional Wine Caucus held its award ceremony Wednesday at the Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C. Senate and House members of the U.S. Congressional wine Caucus, other invited Congressional members, Chiefs of Staff, Legislative Assistants concerned with wine industry issues, wine and industry representatives and other special guests attended the annual Capitol Hill awards presentation and tasting of the top winning Atlantic Seaboard wines for 2009, including the Best of Show, Best of Category and the Gold and Silver Medal Winners. The winning wines offered for tasting were selected by a panel of 20 distinguished judges from 515 entries from 109 wineries in 11 East Coast states.
Kenneth R. Starr, Owner & Winemaker from Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery , Curwensville, won a Gold Medal and one of the 22 Best of Category Awards for his 2008 Vidal Blanc. This is the second Best of Category Mr.. Starr has won in the four years the Winery has been in business. Shown with Mr.. Starr is Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson presenting the award.
