CLARION – Visiting with the spirits has become such a major event that the Sixth Annual Clarion University Ghost Experience program has been expanded to three nights. Participants will learn about Clarion’s paranormal activities and more Oct. 21-23 in Hart Chapel at 8 p.m.
The Clarion University Ghost Experience sponsored by Clarion University’s History Club is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 7:45 p.m. and seating in Hart Chapel is on a first come, first serve basis. Once the 400 seats are filled, the doors will be closed and no one else admitted to be in compliance with fire regulations. The 90-minute program typically has turned away crowds.
Friday, Oct. 23 is being promoted as community night. Those attending any of the presentations this year are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to the Clarion County Food Bank.
Dr. Todd Pfannestiel, associate professor of history, advisor to the Clarion University History Club, and Ghost Experience host, reports that the traditional stories will be presented along with newly learned information. In addition to telling the story of Clarion’s most famous spirit, the Hart Chapel ghost, there will be stories related to Founders Hall’s haunting by a Japanese kamikaze pilot and other happenings in Becht Hall, Moore Hall, and Carlson Library.
“If you have attended before, you need to come back again,” said Pfannestiel. “We will also have new reports on investigations of Hart Chapel and Becht Hall by Rouge Paranormal. They recently spent a night in both buildings and will present their findings from over 72 hours of audio and video taping.”
Rogue Paranormal representatives will be in attendance each evening to answer questions and explain their equipment. Local paranormal investigators, The Pennsylvania Paranormal Society, founded by Dr. Andrew Keth, professor of biology at Clarion University, will have an information table at the Ghost Experience.
Pfannestiel also reports that nearly 200 Clarion University students have expressed interest in forming the Eagle Students Paranormal (ESP) club. Paperwork will soon be filed and the group is awaiting Clarion University Student Senate approval to become a recognized student organization.
The History Club expects to have “Ghost Experience” t-shirts on sale during the event. All proceeds will go to the Clarion University History Club.
