Dear Sir,
You may be interested in the following article put on the internet that few people are aware of.
Did you know the United States had a president no one has had a bad thing to say about? His administration didn’t get involved in any scandals, didn’t wage any wars and didn’t dip into taxpayers’ pockets for one single dime. The man is David Rice Atchison, a US Senator form Missouri who served as US Pro-tem of the Senate in 1849.
When James Knox Polk, the 11th president, whose presidency came to an end, his successor, Zachery Taylor, was scheduled to be sworn in on March 4. That day came on a Sunday and Taylor, and exteme religious man, refused to take the oath until the following Monday. Since the US must always have a president, under law that existed then, Pres. Pro-tem of the Senate Atchison became president for one 24-hour period.
