DUBOIS – The DuBois Volunteer Fire Department received additional recognition for receiving its ISO 1 rating for the second time running.
State Rep. Matt Gabler appeared at the DuBois City Council’s meeting Monday night to hand over a proclamation made by the state honoring the fire department. DuBois is only one of two volunteer fire departments in the country that qualified for the ISO 1 rating, and the only fire department in Pennsylvania.
“I wanted to do this earlier. Well, I figured once we got the budget done, but we all know how that turned out,” joked Gabler.
“It really is an honor for me just to be able to present just a recognition of your hardwork and efforts in reachieving the ISO #1 with the DuBois fire department,” said Gabler congratulating on the department being able to maintain their standards over the last ten years.
Gabler read a proclamation by the by the State House of Representatives honoring the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department.
During the meeting the city council opened bids and approved a bid of $44,000 bid to paint the Fourth Ward Hose building by Charter Contracting Corporation of Cambell, Oh. The two DuBois businesses that sent in bids were the two most expensive at $58,900 and $86,885.
Council also approved an the Mayor John “Herm” Suplizio to sign an agreement with Lee-Simpson Associates, inc. to repair a ramp/driveway at the Third Ward Fire House. Repairs of the ramp will cost $52,320.
