HARRISBURG – Pennsylvanians are invited to provide input for the 2011 update of the commonwealth’s 12-Year Transportation Program during a series of public hearings announced today by the State Transportation Commission.
The Transportation Program is updated every two years and serves as a “blueprint” of prioritized transportation projects.
The Department of Transportation and its 23 regional planning partners will administer the hearings at the following locations:
• Thursday, Sept. 17 – Lebanon, Lantern Lodge, 411 North College St. (Routes 501 and 422), Grand Ballroom (public hearing and quarterly business meeting). Tentative start time is 8:30 a.m.
• Wednesday, Oct. 7 – Erie, Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, Conference Room 140 (public hearing). Tentative start time is 9 a.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 8 – State College, Hilton Garden Inn, 1221 East College Ave., College Hall (public hearing). Tentative start time is 9 a.m.
• Thursday, Nov. 5 – Pittsburgh, Regional Enterprise Tower, 425 Sixth Ave., 31st Floor Conference Room (public hearing). Tentative start time is 8:30 a.m.
Contact the STC office at (717) 787-2913 at least 24 hours in advance if you plan to attend. Oral testimony will be accepted in person at the public hearings. To schedule oral testimony, contact the STC office at least one week before the public hearing date.
In addition to oral testimony, residents can submit written testimony via e-mail, fax, mail, or by completing the “Project Abstract Form” found at www.dot.state.pa.us. Written testimony can be sent directly to STC via e-mail at RA-PennDOTSTC@state.pa.us, faxed to (717) 787-5247, or mailed to: State Transportation Commission, P.O. Box 3633, Harrisburg, PA 17105-3633. Written testimony is considered by STC in the same manner as testimony presented orally at the scheduled public hearings. All written testimony must be received by Nov. 13 to be considered for the 2011 Transportation Program.
The 15-member STC includes the Transportation Secretary, 10 private citizens appointed by the Governor, and the majority and minority chairs of the state Senate and House Transportation Committees.
