Sandy Township Business Approvals Support Local Area

DUBOIS – At the Sandy Township Supervisors regular meeting Monday, they approved three pieces of business to support the local area.

The supervisors voted to continue supporting the Clearfield County Teen Court program this year. The township had been asked to provide a $750 contribution towards the program for the 2009-10 school year. This is a traditional request made to the township.

The supervisors also agreed to pay the $250 requested for the Newspapers in Education Program. The program helps teachers use the news to demonstrate how what is being taught is applied to the real world.

Finally, the township supervisors voted to submit a single application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for a $175,000 loan on behalf of Krentzman & Son, Inc. According to Township Manager Dick Castonguay Krentzman & Son has multiple business locations in Pennsylvania, including Sandy Township.

This loan would be paid back to Sandy Township where the $175,000 can be used to lend out for other purposes.

As an Enterprise Zone application, it will need approved by the Board of Enterprise Zone before the process can be completed.
