Two-way traffic will be maintained during the project
CLEARFIELD – Work will begin Thursday, August 20 to rehabilitate the Nichols Street Bridge along Route 322 in Clearfield Borough, Clearfield County. The bridge spans the West Branch of the Susquehanna River on Route 322.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the five week project by using lane shifts for traffic control. River Road will be closed from the intersection of Route 322 to J.G. Food Warehouse only. The sidewalk on the South side of the bridge will closed to pedestrians.
Panthera is the sub-contractor that will perform the rehabilitation work, which includes removing and refinishing deteriorated paint and corrosion on the existing steel superstructure. The prime contractor, Swank Associates, will perform other minor repairs to concrete portions of the bridge at a later date. This rehabilitation project is part of a $5,500,000 contract for improvement to bridges in Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, McKean and Potter counties.
PennDOT reminds drivers to move through all work zones with caution, follow all traffic control measures and always buckle up. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s website at www.dot.state.pa.us.
