CLEARFIELD – “Do you want the good news or bad news first?” asked Lawrence Township Police Chief Jeff Fink as he hung up his cellphone prior to the Lawrence Township Supervisors’ meeting.
“The good news,” said Supervisor Chairman William Lawhead.
“I’ll begin with the bad news anyway,” said Fink.
During the storm that passed through the area around 6:30 p.m. last night the Lawrence Township Police Department building had been struck by lightning. The strike knocked out the station’s computers and telephones, but the building itself did not catch fire.
“Lighting wise there are at least two generators up there, if not three,” said Lawhead.
Fink left the building quickly as the meeting went into executive session. Work was already in progress to try to get the station up and running again.
