CHEST TOWNSHIP – An unoccupied building was a total loss after a Chest Township fire Saturday afternoon, the Ridgway State Police reported. Police indicated that cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to the police report, the Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal, of the Ridgway Station, initiated an investigation with the Westover Fire Chief. Police stated that the fire destroyed a 28-foot by 44-foot, two-story wood frame dwelling at 958 McPherron Road.
Police stated that the fire began sometime after midnight Saturday and burned unnoticed until 2 p.m., when a passerby noticed smoke coming out of the remaining foundation.
Police said that a damage estimate is not available at this time. They said that no one was injured as a result of the fire.
