It’s Official! I’m running to represent the people of Pennsylvania in the United States Senate
This morning (Tuesday), I was honored to stand in the VFW Hall where I am a member and address an overflowing room of enthusiastic supporters to announce my candidacy to be Pennsylvania’s next United States Senator.
Watch my announcement here.
I can’t tell you how energized I am after seeing all of those people come together, veterans and teachers, laborers and doctors, students and seniors. They all made the early morning trip out to Folsom, and were joined by the thousands of people watching live online, because they know that we must work together to restore the promise of the American Dream. It is that great compact between generations — that we will pass down a better world than the one we inherited — that has been lost for the first time in our history.
If we work together, focused on common goals, no challenge is insurmountable. We can strengthen our workforce for the 21st century economy; invest in our small businesses; put college back in reach for our children; demand transparency and accountability from our financial system; and provide quality and affordable health care to everyone. We can and should be a world leader again, both by example and through engagement in global initiatives, whether working toward peace or stopping global warming from doing greater damage to our environment. I hope you will join with me as we fight to bring accountable leadership, with new energy and new ideas for the future, to Pennsylvania.
While I will never forget the invigorating event this morning, it is only the first step of an exciting journey. I am already on the road and over the next two days will take my message to Pittsburgh and Johnstown, Harrisburg and Scranton, and finally on to the most daunting event of all, a featured appearance on the Colbert Report Wednesday night.
Your involvement in this campaign will make the difference between changing the way Washington does business and politics as usual.
Sign up to volunteer in your neighborhood and please forward this email to your neighbors, family members, and friends – anyone you believe shares in our vision of a new direction for Pennsylvania.
Thank you to everyone who was with me this morning, either in the VFW hall in Folsom, participating through the internet, or in spirit.
I look forward to working with everyone who shares my belief that it is possible to offer our children a better world than the one we inherited and make the American Dream a reality once again.
Warmly,
Joe Sestak
