DUBOIS – A Kansas man pedaled his way to a couple of citations after the DuBois City Police Department pulled him over while he was operating a bicycle.
According to the report, on July 24 officers on patrol noticed a man on a bike riding on the sidewalk and roadway. The bike did not have proper lighting, as required by law. Police also stated that the man had trouble operating the bicycle, as he kept jumping the curb on and off of the road.
Officers stopped the man, Jerry W. Schmidt. Police told Schmidt that it was very dangerous because he did not have any lighting and that he was poorly operating the bike. Officers could note an odor of alcohol coming from Schmidt.
Police stated that in lieu of a DUI, the man was cited with disorderly conduct and not having proper lighting or equipment on a pedal cycle.
