CLEARFIELD – The Fall deadline for the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority Tourism Promotion Assistance Grant is Oct. 15. CCRTA Director Sandy Fink Barrett encourages area businesses, nonprofits and events planning to submit an application to begin preparing now.
“We had several very worthwhile tourism promotion projects submit in the spring, and the grant review committee would like to see as many come in for the fall round,” said Fink Barrett. “The grant maximum is $5,000, and is one local pot of funds that awardees can use to leverage match for larger grants such as those awarded by the Department of Community and Economic Development or the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.”
Signage is a priority for the grant review committee and the CCRTA board of directors. The priority was established after tourism consultant Roger Brooks of Destination Development completed an analysis of area tourism assets and activities and found signage consistently lacking throughout the county. Since that time, several signage projects have been funded and completed in the Clearfield, Curwensville, DuBois and Coalport areas.
Although the CCRTA tourism promotion grant deadline is in October, Fink Barrett would like to remind the public that applications for marketing dollars under the Commissioners Discretionary Hotel Tax Fund are accepted year-round. Both programs may be applied for using the CCRTA application which is available online at or by emailing ccrta@clearfieldco.org.
Once applications are completed, they should be submitted to the ccrta@clearfieldco.org address, or mailed to CCRTA at PO Box 629, Clearfield, PA 16830. Those with questions about the grant program may call 765-5734 and press number 2.
