CLEARFIELD – Four-Leaf Clover ousted the Clearfield Little League 9-10 All-Stars from the District 5 Northern Tier Tournament with a 17-6 revenge win at McNamee Field Wednesday evening.
The visitors parlayed a 15-hit attack with six walks and one hit batsman to atone for a 14-4, five-inning loss to Clearfield in the opening round.
They will take a 3-1 record into the elimination bracket final at Tri-County Friday. The winner will get to test Philipsburg-Osceola for the Northern Tier championship. P-O nipped Tri-County 4-3 in seven innings in the winner\’s bracket final.
Cameron Lyle paced Four-Leaf Clover with two doubles and a single. Wade Shirey tripled and doubled, Justin Fedder doubled and singled and Hunter Parks and Seth Sankey singled twice.
Lyle, Shirey, Fedder and Parks drove in two runs apiece.
Shirey registered the win, allowing five hits and two earned runs before running out of pitches with two outs in the fifth inning. He struck out four and walked two.
Parks finished and gave up two unearned runs while striking out two and walking two.
Clearfield, which split its four tourney games, got a two-run double from Brock Bowman in the first inning and a two-run triple from Christian Leigey-Lopez in the sixth.
Leigey-Lopez and Matt Collins each had two hits.
Collins also pitched 3-2/3 hitless innings in relief of starter and loser Michael Ternoway. Collins, who surendered two unearned runs, struck out six and walked four.
