CLEARFIELD — State College National rode a trio of home runs to a five-inning, 12-2 victory over Clearfield on Kurtz Field Friday evening to advance to the Little League District 5 Tournament winner\’s bracket final.
Chris Adams erased Clearfield\’s 1-0 lead with a two-run homer in the third inning.
A grand slam by Alex Chertow highlighted a 10-run rally in the fifth. Bailey Ishler homered for two more runs.
Chertow, Ishler, Brandon Raquet and Kevin Reid had two hits apiece for State College National.
Winner Seth Cocolin pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and five walks.
Noah Cline and Thomas Summers singled for Clearfield, which has tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
Summers was the starter and loser. Cline and Evan Brown also pitched for the hosts.
Clearfield will try to bounce back Monday in a 6 p.m. elimination bracket quarterfinal home game against Four-Leaf Clover.
The winners will play on their home field Wednesday against Curwensville or Mifflin County.
