LTE: TLPOA on Lakeview Lodge

The board of directors would like to take this opportunity to inform the general membership of the recent action taken on the Lake View Lodge amenity.

As you aware the Lake View Lodge conducts business as a restaurant and a special events/banquet based facility. Contrary to any material that has been circulated, the board of directors has taken a pro-active stance on the building and the surrounding property, as we believe this site has the most value of any remaining lakefront property owned by the TLPOA.

The board of directors has expended funds to determine the essential repairs needed for this building to operate efficiently. This report has been submitted to the board of directors and outlines some suggested options.

Additionally, the board of directors established a special committee to review the “best use” option for this property. This report is expected to be submitted to the board of directors for their review and action by the end of September. It should also be noted that the board of directors would not be able to act on any recommendation(s) that exceeds 5 percent of the annual budget without the prior approval of the membership.

Accordingly, we are simply gathering information so that the membership has the necessary tools to make an informed and educated vote.

The action taken on June 22, 2009 to suspend the booking of reservations for special events and banquets in calendar year 2010 was done as a result of an action requested of the board of directors by the House Committee per their minutes dated April 29, 2009. Due to the extent of repairs and the uncertainty of the time necessary to complete the report, the board of directors felt it was in the best interest of the community to suspend acceptance of banquet reservations for events next year.

It is unfortunate that individuals have come to the conclusion that this action constitutes a campaign to close an amenity. This simply is not an accurate conclusion and one that should be based on the factual information available and not on innuendos and misleading statements.

Rest assured you will be kept informed regarding information that comes forth related to this issue or any of our other valued amenities.

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Treasure Lake Property Owners Association
