CLEARFIELD – Citing finances on Thursday, Clearfield Borough Council did not act on a request to send Mayor Patty Gilliland to the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association convention in July.
The proposed motion came up under the personnel committee’s recommendation to council. Council member Fred Wisor stated that he felt the costs, which he indicated could be around $1,000, were is excess of what the borough could afford. Wisor said that members of council did not attend their convention, nor did the chief attend the chiefs’ convention.
Gilliland stated that when council’s convention came up, it was her understanding that no one wanted to go.
According to the proposed motion on the agenda, the convention costs $200 while hotel expenses were estimated at $372. Another item not taken into account was mileage reimbursement.
Wisor said that he would not make the motion, but said another member of council could if they wanted to. The motion was never made.
