CLEARFIELD – Work along state Route 219 in the Luthersburg area is continuing and a temporary traffic signal is set to begin operation this Wednesday, June 17. The signal will be located near the village of Chestnut Grove, about one-quarter mile north of the intersection of SR 219 and Irishtown Road. The signal will be in place about two weeks, with all work weather dependent.
The signal is necessary so that crews can repair the deck of a small bridge along the Chestnut Grove section of SR 219. Once the signal is operating, traffic will be required to stop and alternate turns over the bridge.
Overall project work includes tree trimming, guide rail installation, drainage updates and roadway surface improvements. The work zone stretches for five miles, from Luthersburg to the Chestnut Grove area in Clearfield County. Work will be complete by the end of September.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. is the contractor on the $3,039,234 project, financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
PennDOT reminds drivers to move through all construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
