DUBOIS – The DuBois City Volunteer Fire Department received its ISO #1 rating.
Fire Chief Jim Corby received the award from the International Organization of Standards representative Bob Nevins on the Edward D. Cherry Amphitheater after the start of DuBois Community Days. Fire chiefs past were also present and received recognition.
The scales tops off at 1 and begins at 10.
“I am going to put that in prospective. There are 44,000 communities and only 40 have #1s,” said Nevins.
In the United States only two volunteer departments has the top most rating. In Pennsylvania DuBois is the only station to have this rating.
