CLEARFIELD – Due to declined enrollment, the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center voted 5-1 to temporarily close the Precision Machining program for the 2009-10 school year.
Phil Carr, Clearfield School District representative, cast the lone opposing vote.
Executive Director Lois Richards said that the center only had five students enroll for the program for the upcoming year. She said that the center requires 10 students to offer the program at a part-time status and 20 students at a full-time status.
She said that the center plans to revitalize the program for 2010-11.
“We’re going to try again and not giving up by any means,” Richards said.
