CLEARFIELD – Current and past Clearfield County Commissioners are being asked to give depositions as part of PA Waste LLC’s appeal of DEP’s denial of their waste permit last year.
The news broke nearly a year ago that DEP had denied PA Waste’s municipal waste landfill permit application. PA Waste submitted a permit application to DEP for the Camp Hope Run municipal waste landfill in late September 2006. The company wanted to develop an 845-acre municipal waste landfill with 221 acres lined to accept an average of 5,000 tons per day for 25 years.

County Solicitor Kim Kesner informed the current board of commissioners, Joan Robinson-McMillen, John Sobel and Mark McCracken that they are being asked for depositions. Former Commissioners Rex Read and Mike Lytle, as well as Clearfield Borough Council Chairman Jim Leitzinger, will be subpoenaed to provide depositions.
Kesner said the county has also been served with several questions pursuant to the issue that require notarized responses. The commissioners approved allowing Commissioner Chair Robinson-McMillen to answer the questions in a form that suited both herself and Kesner.
