Rite Aid Construction Delayed in Clearfield Borough

CLEARFIELD – Rite Aid will be coming to Clearfield Borough, it will just take a little longer than expected.

On Thursday night Clearfield Borough Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack and Clearfield Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott gave council an update on the construction project.

Mack said that he and Stott, as well as representatives from PennDOT and the Clearfield County Conservation District met with a representative from Rite Aid on Monday. Mack said they will wait until next summer to begin construction.

“They are still going to go through with the project,” said Mack.

Stott said the company has spent over $1 million on the property already, which gives them reason to move forward.

“They gave us every optimism that the project is to go forward,” said Stott.

Both Stott and Mack said they were told the reason for the delay is a funding issue. They said they were told that banks are not releasing funds to corporate entities.

Until construction begins, Mack said the company is going to make the property more appealing to look at. He said they will move the dirt pile to the back of the property, grade the property and reseed it. The temporary fence will be moved back and a temporary sidewalk will be built about 8 feet from the roadway.
