CLEARFIELD – A Karthaus man accused of selling drugs to a confidential informant waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Randy S. Wilson is charged with manufacture or delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance and intentional possession of a controlled substance by person not registered.
According to the affidavit of probable cause on March 12, 2008 a state trooper met with a confidential informant in Clearfield Borough. The CI had previously arranged for the purchase of a bundle (10 stamp bags) of heroin from a person. The CI advised that they meet at Snappy’s along state Route 879 in Lawrence Township at 4:45 p.m. The investigator told the CI that the transaction would take place from inside his undercover vehicle, in the investigator’s full view.
At 4:55 p.m. a green, late-model Ford F-150 backed into a parking stall in front of the undercover vehicle, about 30 yards away. The CI identified the vehicle and then phoned the person in the vehicle. That person advised the undercover trooper and CI to remain in the car and that would arrive shortly to handle the transaction.
At 4:58 p.m. Wilson arrived in a black Honda. He reportedly began a conversation with the CI and the undercover trooper. Wilson allegedly told them that he had to take the money to the truck and would return. The undercover trooper questioned Wilson about the quality of the drugs.
Wilson reportedly told the trooper, “This is good stuff and it’s sealed.” The trooper then told him that he wanted 10 stamp bags and Wilson told him he needed $300. He was given $300 by the undercover agent. Wilson gave his car key to them as collateral.
The trooper observed Wilson walk to the driver’s side of the green truck and return five minutes later. He reportedly handed the CI 10 stamp bags marked “Much Better.” The CI then handed them to the trooper. Those involved then left.
A lab analysis confirmed that the drugs were heroin.
