FALLS CREEK – The economy has lead to the Clearfield-Jefferson Counties Regional Airport Authority to make some cutbacks regarding employees.
Two employees have been rightsized, a variation of laid off. They were a part-time employee in marketing and a lineman for the airport.
“We made [the lay-offs] permanent, but we hope the economy will allow us to bring them back,” said Manager Bob Shaffer.
Remaining workers will see their hours scaled back from forty to thirty-five hours a week till October at least. Between the lay offs and the reduced hours it is expected to save the airport authority around $3,800 a month.
Shaffer mentioned a recent press release from Gulfstream Airlines that they are doing well, but these changes are on the airport end. Gulfstream is even hoping to expand. If the expansion works out for them it could lead to more money being sent towards the DuBois Regional Airport.
“This is not a reflection on the operations of the airline or the airport, but just a refection of what we have to do,” said Shaffer.
