CLEARFIELD – PennDOT is reminding drivers of the importance of obeying speed limits as work on the Susquehanna River Bridge project along state Route 879 continues. The work zone is located on SR 879 along the Clearfield- Curwensville highway in Lawrence Township. A temporary bridge is in place to move traffic through the work zone.
PennDOT recently placed a portable speed display sign near the project in the eastbound lane of SR 879. The sign alerts drivers to their vehicle speed as they come through the construction zone. The speed limit in the work zone is 35 miles per hour. Drivers should use caution through the work zone, be aware of their speeds and allow for adequate space between vehicles.
Glenn. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor for the $8.4 million dollar project. The project completion is scheduled for November 2009. All work is weather dependent. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
