DECATUR TOWNSHIP – A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 62-year-old Woodland woman at 9:40 p.m. Friday in Decatur Township, Clearfield County.
Joyce Dixon, 62 of Woodland, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Michael Polachek.
According to the report, the Dixon vehicle was traveling east on United States Route 322 about a half mile west of state Route 2024. A vehicle operated by Adam Lamb, 28 of Houtzdale, was traveling west on the same.
Police said that a deer entered the roadway from the south berm and in front of the Dixon vehicle. Her vehicle struck the deer, crossed into the westbound lane and into the path of the Lamb vehicle.
Police said that the Lamb vehicle impacted that of Dixon in the westbound lane. The Dixon vehicle came to a rest off the north berm and down a small embankment. The Lamb vehicle crossed the eastbound lane, coming to a rest off the south berm.
Both Lamb and his passenger Carla Dillen, 23, suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services, both the Reliance and Hope Volunteer Fire Departments and PennDOT.
